Order Status Codes in the Unit Census Monitor

There are a number of codes that are displayed in the Status column of the Unit Census Monitor (UCM). Each indicates that a specific action is needed by a unit or a particular person: a nurse, an OC or OA, or an MD or the house staff. The table below describes each status code, as well as the process flagged by the status. Holding the mouse pointer over a patients's Order Status displays a description if the patient's flags.

Discharge

The patient has an active Discharge order that has been signed as final.

ED to Admit

The patient is being admitted from the ED. There are orders for use only following transfer to the inpatient care unit. AFTER the patient arrives, the receiving floor must activate these orders to change the status to PENDING.

There are new orders that have not been transcribed. These orders may or may not have been reviewed by a nurse.

Pending (Ambulatory Chemotherapy)

There are new orders that have not been activated. .

IV Rewrite

The patient has an IV Fluid order that is due to expire at 6 p.m.

NICO

There are New Inpatient Chemotherapy Orders. When needed, these orders must be activated to change the status to pending,

All orders for the patient are currently on paper only. Remove this status to enter all orders in the system.

PAML

The patient's Pre-Admission Medication List (PAML) has been started, but not signed as reviewed.

Postop

There are orders for use only following surgery. AFTER the patient arrives, the receiving floor must activate these orders to change the status to PENDING.

There are orders that were written before the patient was admitted. Includes orders written in the ED for inpatient treatment.

 

AFTER the patient arrives, the admitting floor must activate these orders to change the status to PENDING.

Non-Chemo - Receiving floor activates

Protocol #

The patient is enrolled through Quality Assurance for Clinical Trials (QACT) in the indicated investigational chemotherapy protocol.

There is at least one pending stat order.
