To open a list of sessions pending cosign:
For all patients with orders assigned to you for cosign, click Cosign (ALT+S).
Cosign Notification: If you do not cosign orders assigned to you within six (6) hours, you will be prompted to do so the next time you log on to Order Entry:
Click Yes when prompted to display your list of patients for cosign. All Orders, overdue or otherwise, are listed.
The first time you are prompted to cosign overdue orders, you can defer for six (6) hours. You will have to provide a reason for doing so.
If you do not cosign the orders assigned to you within six (6) hours of deferring at the prompt, you will be prompted again each time you log on to Order Entry. You can continue to defer, but you will have to provide a reason for doing so each time.
For any patients with a Cosign order status, select the patient, then click Cosign (ALT+S).
To change the items on the list:
Click Options (ALT+P) and reset the parameters for the list.
To switch to the list of orders for the selected patient, click View Current Patient (ALT+U).
To switch to the list of all patients with orders assigned to you for cosign, click View My List of Patients (ALT+M). This option is available only when another clinician has assigned orders to you for cosign.
To display the orders in a session:
Click to select a line from the list. If the orders are for the Day of Procedure, the procedure description displays to the right of the patient name at the top of the page.
Click Cosign or Cosign/Decline (ALT+O).
To view order details:
Click Zoom (ALT+Z).
Click Close (ALT+C) to return to the list.
To open Knowledge Link:
Click .
Click Exit (ALT+E) to return to the orders list.
Click Pop Out (ALT+P) to detach the KnowledgeLink window from the CAS. Toggle between Order Entry and KnowledgeLink by clicking the icons in the taskbar. Click to close the Knowledge Link window.
To change orders entered by med students:
Click to select the order in the list.
Click Edit (ALT+E).
The form for the order opens; make changes as needed. See Editing Orders.
Click OK (ALT+O).
To delete orders entered by med students:
Click to select the order in the list.
Click Delete (ALT+D).
To indicate that you do not intend to cosign an order:
You can only decline orders that are assigned to you for cosign.
Do not decline an order because it has already been carried out—cosign does not create another order.
Orders must be declined individually.
For inpatient orders, you should notify the clinician who entered the order that you have declined cosign; at present, there is no automatic method for doing so. The ordering clinician can reassign the orders to another provider. See Reassigning Cosign For a Verbal/Approved Exception Order Session.
If you decline ambulatory orders, the clinician who entered the orders will receive an email that you have declined cosign.
Click Decline (ALT+L).
Click to select a reason for declining when prompted.
If prompted, type a description and click OK (ALT+O).
Click OK (ALT+O).
Sign the session
Click Sign (ALT+S).
Type your clinical key when prompted.
Click OK (ALT+O).
Repeat the process for every line on the View Sessions list.
