Only oncologists are authorized to approve chemo orders for oncology treatment. Orders for desensitization that require oncology approval must be approved by oncology before the desensitization orders can be written. See Overview of Chemotherapy Approval.
If you are notified that you have orders assigned to you for approval: When you log on to Order Entry, change sites on the UCM, sign chemo orders, or cancel out of the chemo player, and there are orders assigned to you for approval, you will be prompted to do so. Click OK (ALT+O) to display the list of chemo order sessions assigned to you for approval.
If you haven't already, to display a list of sessions for approval:
To display the list of chemo order sessions assigned to you for approval, you do not have to select a patient. To approve orders for any patient with Approval order status, select the patient.
For inpatients, click Chemo Options (ALT+M).
Click Approval (ALT+A).
To limit the list to order sessions assigned to you, click the option View My List of Patients (ALT+M). If the patient selected on the UCM needs approval, to switch back, click View Current Patient (ALT+U).
To display the orders in a session:
Click to select a line from the list.
Click Approve (ALT+O).
To view order details:
Click Zoom (ALT+Z).
Click Close (ALT+C) to return to the list.
To display chemotherapy and medication orders:
Click View Chemo (ALT+V)
Click Close (ALT+C) to return to the authorization list.

To open Knowledge Link:
Click .
Click Exit (ALT+E) to return to the orders list.
Click Pop Out (ALT+P) to detach the KnowledgeLink window from the CAS. Toggle between Order Entry and KnowledgeLink by clicking the icons in the taskbar. Click to close the Knowledge Link window.
To delete the orders, click Reject All (ALT+R).
Sign the session:
Click Sign (ALT+S).
Type your clinical key when prompted.
Click OK (ALT+O).
Repeat the process for every line on the Approval Pending Sessions list.
