If you haven't already, open the clinical laboratory order form
To access the Laboratory Handbook, click .
Complete the form
To select common lab tests:
Double-click an item on the list at the left.
You can also click to select an item, then click Add > (ALT+A).
You must select items one at a time.
To clear a test from the selected tests list, click its line, then click Remove (ALT+R).
Type all or part of the test, panel, or specimen name in the field to the left of Search.
You must type at least 2 characters.
Partial names (chol), symbols (na) and acronyms (hdl)are all acceptable.
You cannot string search terms together, with commas separating them. You can only look up labs one at a time.
Click Search (or press ENTER).
If your search term returns more than 35 tests, a message displays with suggestions for narrowing the list. Click OK (ALT+O) to acknowledge.
If your search term does not return any tests, a message displays with suggestions for getting results. Click OK (ALT+O) to acknowledge.
To select the test(s) you want, double-click an item on the list at the left—or click, then click Add > (ALT+A). You must select items one at a time.
There is no "take as typed" option. Use the Other labs function if you cannot find a test.
Repeat the preceding steps until all of the tests you need are listed as Selected Tests.
Click OK (ALT+O).
To clear a test from the selected tests list, click its line, then click Remove (ALT+R).
To reopen the additional information form for a test (flagged with MORE), click its line, then click Modify Additional Info (ALT+M).
Set the collection type—Routine or STAT; Already Collected, Fasting
If the need for testing depends on a specific condition, click Draw if/when
Select a frequency if needed. For Other, type a number, then select Hours, Minutes, or Days.
STAT, draw if/when, and already collected specimens are limited to x1 (one time) frequency.
If more than one collection is needed, select from the Total Collections list
For labs collected for research or occupational health, click Special Billing
Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
