If you haven't already, open the clinical laboratory order form
To access the Laboratory Handbook, click .
Complete the form
To select common lab tests:
Double-click an item on the list at the left.
You can also click to select an item, then click Add > (ALT+A).
You must select items one at a time.
To clear a test from the selected tests list, click its line, then click Remove (ALT+R).
The column on the left lists which parameters are requested. Red = required; black = optional.
Click the appropriate options (one choice only) and/or checkboxes (one or more allowed), or type the requested information to answer questions as prompted. The selection of one item may trigger a prompt for additional information.
Click the next item in the list on the left, and answer as prompted.
Repeat with all required or relevant items in the list.
If other tests are usually ordered with the current selection, they are listed to the right. Click to check any tests to add to the order.
Click OK (ALT+O).
To reopen the additional information form for a test (flagged with MORE), click its line, then click Modify Additional Info (ALT+M).
If needed, look up test(s) that do not appear on the common labs list
Set the collection type—Routine or STAT; Already Collected, Fasting
If the need for testing depends on a specific condition, click Draw if/when
Select a frequency if needed. For Other, type a number, then select Hours, Minutes, or Days.
STAT, draw if/when, and already collected specimens are limited to x1 (one time) frequency.
If more than one collection is needed, select from the Total Collections list
For labs collected for research or occupational health, click Special Billing
Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
