Lab tests for chemistry, hematology, coagulation, special coagulation, immunology, and diabetes can be added to specimens already received by the laboratory. Restrictions apply based on the age and type of specimen available. Blood gas and microbiology add-ons must be requested by phoning the applicable lab.
If you haven't already:
Click Write (ALT+W).
Click Laboratory (ALT+O).
Click Add Ons (ALT+A).
Complete the form
For all text entry fields, there is a limit to the length of the entry. The total characters used/total characters allowed is displayed to the right of the field in parentheses ().
Type the pager ID for the clinician who should be contacted if more information is needed. A text pager is preferable.
Type the date and time that the lab received the specimen to be tested. This information is available in the Results viewer (Results in the CAS toolbar on the left). For instructions on finding the received date and time, click the What's This link to the right of the field.
Type the name(s) of the test(s) to be added. Click the link to the left to access the laboratory Add On Guide.
If needed, type instructions.
Click OK (ALT+O).
Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
