Order General Care—Other General Care

• The Other General Care option is not intended to replace available order forms. This should not be used to order medications, consults, labs, restraints, transfusion restrictions, diet or food restrictions or allergies, admission status, or other tests and treatments.

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click General Care (ALT+G).

4. Click Other General Care (ALT+H) on the Current General Care Orders scratch pad.

General care refers to treatment delivered on the unit by the unit staff. Other general care can also be used to indicate the need for patient education or instruction, as well as pathways and related information such as admit unit, specialist, PCP, diagnosis, and condition.

• Complete the form

1. Type any miscellaneous general care orders, that is, orders that can't be entered through specific General Care Order Entry forms.

2. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
