Documenting a Smart Form Note
The Smart Form displays with three sections for reviewing, documenting, and managing patient data.
The SmartView pane (on the left), is divided into several sections of existing patient data with which you can review, update, or add selected information to the visit note.
The Note pane (in the middle), provides an area for you to record and edit the visit information and view graphs of patient data.
The Orders, A/P pane (on the right), displays assessments and specific care options based on the patient’s condition and clinical history. It also allows you to take action on the assessments by selecting orders, adding medications, and updating specific areas of the patient’s chart.
The order in which you use the Smart Form pane depends on your personal preference, but it is recommended to do the following:
1. Review the Filter By settings in the SmartView pane to make sure that the patient’s conditions (either CAD, DM, or Smoking) are selected if applicable.
2. Review patient chart data in the SmartView pane and make any necessary updates.
3. Regenerate the Orders A/P pane to ensure that the updates you just made are considered by the decision support logic.
4. Create your note in the Note pane. Use the associated buttons in the SmartView pane to import data into the note.
5. Add assessments to your note from the Orders, A/P pane.
6. Review and take action on recommendations in the Orders, A/P pane; remember to click Execute.
7. Add plans to your note from the Orders, A/P pane.
