To
create a new free-form note, click .
To
create a new note from a template (free-form or structured note),
click and select the
appropriate option.
Note: Information
from SmartView (such as medications, problems, etc) automatically
loads into corresponding sections of a structured notes template.
A completion indicator () shows
which sections were auto-completed.
To
select a note to carry forward (copy), click
and click the subject of the note to carry forward.
To
open an existing note for editing, click
and click the subject of the note to open. The existing note is
updated if any changes are made to the note in the Smart Form.
To
insert custom paragraphs, click .
Note: Each time you type a period (.), the custom paragraph drop-down list appears.
To update the Subject, click the drop-down arrow next to the subject field and select a subject, or type subject in the field.
To
change the date, click
and select the desired date.
To
check spelling, click .
To
print the note, click .
To save your note:
- In
preliminary status, click .
- In
final status, click the drop-down arrow next to ,
and select Save Note as Final.
- As
a copy, click the drop-down arrow next to , and
select Save Note as Copy.
To
apply special formatting (such as bold or italic text), click
to display the formatting toolbar,
and click the appropriate button. You must first
select text when formatting existing text.
To add a template (if applicable, Angina, PE, or ROS), click the associated button. Template buttons are displayed at the top of the pane in a free-form note or in the related section of a structured note.
- To
indicate that all items are normal or negative, click the check box
under .
- To
document a positive finding, click the check box next to the item
in the column and type associated comments.

To
print a handout of information for the patient, click Patient
View and click .
