Build a Template—Details

The Order List window, which opens whenever you start a template in the builder, serves as a holding area for every order to be placed on the template. There are several options for pulling orders into this list, four of which are available on the Order List menu, with the fifth from Custom Controls:

Step-By-Step:

  1. Click the Order List menu, then click Add an Order to the List.

  2. Select an order type from the drop-down list that opens on the right.

  1. If the order type scratch pad is displayed, click a button in the Add New Orders section to open the applicable order form.

  2. Complete the order form and click OK (ALT+O).

  3. If the order type scratch pad is displayed, write other orders of this type as needed.

  4. Click Close (ALT+C). The order or orders you wrote are displayed in the template order list.

  1. Click the Orders menu, then click Add an Order Set to the List.

  2. When prompted, click to select an order set (green folder). (Yellow folders can contain order sets; click a yellow folder to display the order sets inside, if any.)

  3. Click OK (ALT+O).

  1. Click the Order List menu, then click Add a Multi-Order to the List.

  2. Select an order type from the drop-down list that opens on the right.

  3. In the caption field provided, type a description and instructions as needed for the orders available with this button.

  4. Click OK (ALT+O). Your selection is listed in the template orders as Multi: followed by the order type you selected.

  2. In the caption field provided, type a description of the orders available from this list.

  3. Click OK (ALT+O). Your selection is listed in the template orders as Order List: followed by the caption you entered.

  4. Pull in orders to add as list items: see Add an Order and Add an Order Set.

  1. Click the Custom Order menu, then click Add a General Care (Other) Order to the List.

  2. Type the first part of the order (up to the place for the first variable) in the Label Text 1 field.

  3. To add a variable, click the first unused Variable checkbox. The Variable Definition window opens.

  1. Click an option button to choose the Numeric, Free-text, or Combo type.

  2. Define parameters for the variable:

  1. Click OK (ALT+O).

  1. Continue to add text and variables (up to three) as described above.

  2. Type instructions if needed. (Instructions are indicated on the template with <I> at the end of the order.)

  3. Click OK (ALT+O). Your selection is listed in the template orders as typed, with XXX marking variable fields.

  1. Click the order you want and hold the mouse button down.

  2. Move the mouse pointer over the template. The pointer should now have a + beneath the arrow.

  3. If the pointer does not have a + beneath the arrow, move it back over the Order List. Do not release the mouse button. When the pointer changes, move it back over the template.

  4. Move the pointer to the template and release the mouse button.

  1. Drag the Order List: your caption from the template Order List window.

  2. To change the width of the field, lock the template items (lock = button down, dragging OFF), then click and drag the right side of the field.

  3. Drag orders from the Order List to the field of the drop-down list. The first order you move is listed first, the next is second, and so on.

  4. To change the order of the items in the list, remove and replace the orders.

  1. Click the Frames menu, then click Add a Frame.

  2. Type a caption for the frame.

  3. Click OK (ALT+O).

  4. The pointer changes to a plus (+) sign. Starting in the upper left and dragging down to the lower right, click and drag to draw the frame where you want it.

  1. Click the Labels menu, then click Add a Label.

  2. Type a caption for the label, then click OK (ALT+O).

  3. The pointer changes to a plus (+) sign. Click the spot on the template where you want the label.

  1. Go to the last page by clicking the 4 on the toolbar.

  2. On the last page, click 4 again, or click the Screen menu, then click the Next Page option.

  3. The Next Page function only adds a page if you currently have the last page in view. You cannot insert pages into the middle of a template.

  1. Bring the page into view using the Next or Previous Page buttons.

  2. Remove any orders that you still want to use by dragging them back to the Order List.

  3.  Click the Screen menu, then click the Delete Current Page option.

  4. When prompted, click OK to confirm the deletion.

  1. Enable dragging (unlock = button up).

  2. Click the order, label, or frame and hold down the mouse button. The item is surrounded by a black rectangle.

  3. Move the mouse pointer to the new location.

Notice the upper left corner of the surrounding rectangle when placing the item. This corner will snap to the nearest dot on the template.

  1. Release the mouse button.

  1. Enable dragging (unlock = button up).

  2. Drag the order back to the order list.

  3. Open the page you want, and drag the order to that page.

  4. Click the order, label, or frame and drag it to its new location.

  1. To save typing, copy the text:

  1. Lock the template items (lock = button down, dragging OFF).

  2. Select the label or frame.

  3. To copy text for a label: Click the Labels menu, then click Change Selected Label Caption.

  4. To copy the caption for a frame: Click the Frames menu, then click Change Selected Frame Caption.

  5. Select the text, then press CTRL+C.

  6. Click OK (ALT+O).

  2. Click the next page or previous page button to open the page you want.

  3. Add a new label or frame. Press CTRL+V to paste the text you copied. See Adding a Label or Adding a Frame.

  3. Click to select the item to be removed. (It is displayed in the list field.)

  4. Drag the order from the field back to the Order List.  See Moving Orders, Labels, and Frames.

  3. To delete a label, click the Labels menu, then click Delete Selected Label.

  2. Select the orders. To add an order to an existing group, select all of the orders including the new one.

  3. Click the Orders menu, or right-click a selected order.

  4. Click Group Selected Orders.

  5. To remove an order from the group, select the order to be removed.  (Select all of the orders to remove entire grouping.) Click the Orders menu, or right-click a selected order, then click Ungroup Selected Orders.

  2. Select the order.

  3. Click the Orders menu, or right-click a selected order.

  4. For General Care (Other) Orders, to change whether the order will be sent to pharmacy, click Pharmacy Related (will send to Pharmacy) or Not Pharmacy Related.

  5. For other orders, click Define Properties for Selected Order(s).

  6. Click any or all of the Variable checkboxes to enable that property for all of the selected orders:

  1. Click Okay (ALT+O).

  2. Select all of the orders (across columns is okay, as well as down; the number of columns is preserved).

  3. Click the Orders menu, then click Select Align Selected Orders. Each checkbox is brought into line, and the variable fields are moved to a straight column to the right of the orders.

  2. Select the label or frame.

  3. Open the editor:

  1. Type the text.

  2. Click OK (ALT+O).

  4. Select a typeface from the Fonts list.

  5. Select Regular, Italic, Bold, or Bold Italic from the Styles list.

  6. Select a size for the type.

  7. To underline the words, click the Underline checkbox.

  8. Select a color from the Color drop-down list.

  9. Click OK (ALT+O).

  3. Click the Labels menu, then click Change Selected Label's Font Size/Color.

  4. Select a typeface from the Fonts list.

  5. Select Regular, Italic, Bold, or Bold Italic from the Styles list.

  6. Select a size for the type.

  7. To underline the words, click the Underline checkbox.

  8. Select a color from the Color drop-down list.

  9. Click OK (ALT+O).

  2. When prompted, click Yes (ALT+Y) to save the template.
