You are given the option to print (or electronically send and print) a prescription when you add your electronic signature (or key) after adding or renewing a medication, provided the Rx option has been selected. (See Adding Medications or Renewing Medications for details.)
If a prescription transmittal fails, you are sent a notification. To monitor the status of a prescription, go to the Medication History screen.
Note:
Prescriptions that you had printed within the past 7 days can be reprinted. Do so using the Rx Queue module from the Admin menu. All items in this queue are deleted weekly.
According to Drug Enforcement Administration rules, a prescription for a Schedule II narcotic cannot be written for more than a 30-day supply. However, you can write up to three sequential prescriptions (for up to 90-days total), provided the effective dates for these prescriptions are at least 30 days apart. Use the special instructions comment field to indicate the future date when subsequent subscriptions can be filled. For example, the second prescription must contain the following text in the special instructions: "Do not fill until after <date> (30 days from original prescription date)." And the third prescription must contain, "Do not fill until after <date> (60 days from original prescription date)."
