Referral Management Overview

This view is designed to improve the quality and coordination of patient care by increasing physician-physician communication of clinical information. Major benefits are as follows:

For primary care providers

Allows you to initiate and authorize referrals using the LMR. If the specialist is also an LMR user, selected clinical information can be automatically sent. Also allows you to track that visits with specialists actually occur, and to review any subsequent notes.
For referral coordinators

Allows you to see at a glance and track patient referrals for all physicians in your practice. Information is filed electronically, eliminating problems with lost and illegible paperwork. Depending on the workflow of your practice, you can also initiate and authorize referrals for providers.
For specialist providers

Improves your communication with the referring provider, ensuring you know the purpose of all referrals. Allows you to automatically receive related clinical information.

The My View tab displays by default. Initially, this tab includes all your active referrals. For providers, this includes those you’ve saved as Draft; for support staff, this includes all those for all providers in your practice, except those saved by your providers as Draft. This is identical to what is displayed by the In Progress tab. However, unlike the In Progress tab, you can filter your list of referrals on your My View tab to display only selected referrals.
