Order General Care—Neonatal NGT/Feeding Tubes

• The default options and settings are determined by age group. To override the age group for a neonate, see Changing a Neonate Age For Orders.

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click General Care (ALT+G).

4. Click NGT/Feeding Tubes (ALT+N).

• Complete the order:

1. Click a checkbox (or press ALT + the underlined letter) to select an NGT option.

2. Complete the order as follows for the selections:

• NGT to (ALT+N): Click Vent or Continuous low suction.

• Insert NGT for (ALT+I): Click one or both checkboxes to indicate Meds and/or Feeding. Type instructions.

• Feeding Tube (ALT+F), G tube (ALT+G), J tube (ALT+J): Type instructions.

• NGT Clamping Schedule (ALT+S): Type the number of hours to clamp and unclamp, then type instructions.

• Repogle to continuous low suction (ALT+R): Select an option from the Size drop-down list.

3. Select a start Time (Now or Other ).

4. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
