The default options and settings are determined by age group. To remove the override of the age group for a neonate, see Changing a Neonate Age For Orders.
If you haven't already:
Click Write (ALT+W).
Click Respiratory (ALT+P).
Click Special Procedures (ALT+S).
Some respiratory orders are available only for inpatients.
Complete the form
Click a checkbox to select a procedure.
Complete the order as follows for the selections:
Respiratory Mechanics: Click to select one or more mechanics options. Select an option from the corresponding Frequency drop-down list for each checked item.
Nasal Tracheal Suctioning: Select a frequency.
Heliox: Type lower and upper limits to define a target SpO2 range. Type additional information in the Details field as needed.
Inhaled Nitric Oxide (ALT+N): If needed, change the concentration (parts per million) by typing a new value. To order treatment in lieu of the Neonatal Protocol, click to deselect the Wean per protocol checkbox, then type a description in the Details field.
Other Procedures (ALT+P): Type instructions.
Type instructions as needed.
Select a Time (Now or Other ).
Click OK (ALT+O).
For Nitric Oxide, you will be prompted to include an order for Methemoglobin QD. See Overview of Consequent Orders.
Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
