Order General Care—Chest Tube

• The default options and settings are determined by age group. To remove the override of the age group for a neonate, see Changing a Neonate Age For Orders.

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click General Care (ALT+G).

4. Click Chest Tube (ALT+S).

• Complete the order:

1. Click a checkbox (or press ALT + the underlined letter) to select one or both chest tubes, a pericardial pigtail catheter, or all.

2. Complete the order as follows for the selections:

• Chest Tube (ALT+H): Type the location for the tube in the Site field. Click to select one or more options. Type specifications in the text fields to the right for each selected option. Type instructions.

• Pericardial Pigtail Catheter (ALT+P): Type instructions.

• Mueller 16 Fr. Empyema Chest Tube (ALT+M): Click to select one or more options. Type specifications in the text fields to the right for each selected option. Type instructions.

3. Select a Start Time (Now or Other ).

4. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
