Order Respiratory—Neonatal Special Procedures

• The default options and settings are determined by age group. To override the age group for a neonate, see Changing a Neonate Age For Orders.

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click Respiratory (ALT+P).

4. Click Special Procedures (ALT+S).

Some respiratory orders are available only for inpatients.

• Complete the form

5. Click a checkbox to select Inhaled Nitric Oxide or Other Procedures.

6. Complete the order as follows for the selections:

• Inhaled Nitric Oxide (ALT+N): If needed, change the concentration (parts per million) by typing a new value. To order treatment in lieu of the Neonatal Protocol, click to deselect the Wean per protocol checkbox, then type a description in the Details field.

• Other Procedures (ALT+P): Type instructions.

7. Type instructions as needed.

8. Select Time (Now or Other ).

9. Click OK (ALT+O).

For Nitric Oxide, you will be prompted to include an order for Methemoglobin QD. See Overview of Consequent Orders.

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
