Order Respiratory—Neonatal Artificial Airway Management

• The default options and settings are determined by age group. To override the age group for a neonate, see Changing a Neonate Age For Orders.

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click Respiratory (ALT+P).

4. Click Artificial Airway Management (ALT+A).

Some respiratory orders are available only for inpatients.

• Complete the form

5. Click to select Change Trach Tube and/or Other Airway Management.

6. Complete the selections as follows:

• Change Trach Tube: Click an option (or press the corresponding letter) to select a type. For Custom or Other, type a description of the type and size in the field provided.

• Other Airway Management: Type a description.

7. Select a Start Time (Now or Other ).

8. Click OK (ALT+O).

For a Speaking Valve Evaluation, you will be prompted to include an order for a Speech Language Pathology Consult. See Overview of Consequent Orders.

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
