Writing Prescriptions for Services for Discharge

MDs, NPs, PAs, and CNMs can write prescriptions for services, equipment, and supplies at discharge.

If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient and click Face Sheet Discharge (ALT+F) .

2. If needed, click the Services folder to access the form.

3. Click the corresponding checkbox in the Rx column for the order needing a prescription.

Complete the prescription

• For services other than nutrition:

1. Type to provide a diagnosis or reason for the order.

2. If needed, type to include comments or additional information or instructions.

3. Click OK (ALT+O).

• For nutrition, the MGH Nutrition & Food Services prescription form opens in a new window. To generate a paper copy:

1. Click the heading in red at the top of the page.

2.  When prompted with printer options, set as needed, then click OK.

3. Click in the upper right of the browser window to close it.
