Manage ownership & co-ownership of a case

In the Cases Sent view in 4Next standalone, you can select a name from the view by list drop-down list to limit the cases to the ones that are owned or co-owned by the person you chose. You must also be an owner or co-owner to receive notifications for a case. Anyone who is authorized to manage cases in 4Next can work with any case for their site(s), regardless of ownership.

  • If you haven't already, from 4Next standalone:
  1. Click Cases Sent on the main menu.
  1. Click the patient name to select a case.
  • If you haven't already, from DHeCare (Epic Hyperspace):
  1. Log in to the Case Management or Care Coordinator module.
  2. From the patient encounter, click the 4Next tab.
  • Click Manage to display the case management view.

Transferring ownership of a case

  1. Click in the case type section in the upper right, and then click the case owner Case Ownership option on the menu.
  2. Click to select the new case owner from the drop-down list. Only staff authorized to manage cases for the patient's admission site are listed. To move through the list quickly, open it and then press the key for the first initial of the last name.
  3. Click save. (To cancel the change instead, click close.)
  • The previous and new owners are paged when they’re added or removed from a case. Transferring ownership initiates pages for each individual case, one to previous owner and one to new owner.
  • New owners are automatically removed as co-owner when applicable.

Adding & removing yourself as co-owner (following a case)

The case follow icon allows you to quickly add or remove yourself as co-owner of the selected case.

  • To add yourself as co-owner, click . The case follow icon changes to , and you're automatically added the the list of co-owners for the case.
  • To remove yourself as co-owner, click . The case follow icon changes to and you're automatically removed from the the list of co-owners for the case.

Adding any co-owner to a case

When you're added as a co-owner to a case, the favorite icon is automatically turned on 

  1. Click in the case type section in the upper right, and then click the  Manage Co-Ownership option on the menu.
  2. To find a name quickly, press CTRL+F to open the browser's search field, and then type the name. Items that match what you're typing are highlighted.

  3. Click and drag the new co-owner's name from the available users list on the left to the top of the case co-owners box on the right.
  4. Click save. (To cancel the change instead, click close.)
  • When you add someone else as a co-owner, the new co-owner is automatically paged.

Removing any co-owner from a case

When you're removed as a co-owner to a case, the favorite icon is automatically turned off

  1. Click in the case type section in the upper right, and then click the  Manage Co-Ownership option on the menu.
  2. Click and drag the former co-owner's name from the case co-owners box on the right on top of the available users list on the left.
  3. Click save. (To cancel the change instead, click close.)
  • When you remove someone else as a co-owner, the former co-owner is automatically paged.
