The module includes new functionality for documenting reconciliation of the patient's current medication list, replacing the previous Verify function. Clicking the new Reconcile button displays a new screen. For details, click here.
The following icons display for medications, when applicable, indicating their reconciliation status:
- Indicates patient is not taking this medication (as documented
during reconciliation)
- Indicates patient is taking this medication differently than
prescribed (as documented during reconciliation)
The Visit Summary, Medication List, and Patient Medication/Allergy list now include the following text at the bottom of the report: "Keep an up-to-date list with you at all times. Also, be sure to show your up-to-date list to all of your health care providers."
The LMR periodically moves certain medications that have not been updated in more than 2 years to the inactive medications list. This only applies to selected medications, typically prescribed for a short duration (such as antibiotics and topical ointments). The LMR discontinues these medications with the reason, "System D/C: Inactive."
For pilot users only, the LMR displays new alert screens after adding selected antibiotics to a patient's medications list. This enhancement is part of a research study to track whether prescribing behavior is affected following the display of these alerts. A few different variations of this alert are included, some that require the provider to specify a justification and some that display alternative therapies. The specific alerts displayed depend on the control group associated with the user.
The Custom Care Teams module allows you to create groups of providers, staff, or both, that work together. These groups can then be applied as a filter to selected Desktop modules (Schedule, Clinical Messages, the Results Manager, and Rx Renewal Queue) to make it easier to coordinate care between members of the team. For details, click here.
The Custom Filters module has been renamed for this release to better reflect its enhanced appearance and functionality. Other enhancements include the following:
Custom folders that you have added to the associated Module Preferences tab display as folder links at the top of the Notes module. This allows you to more easily filter a lengthy list of notes. Previously, applying a custom filter to the Notes module required an additional click.
You can now designate any folder (Enterprise, My, Practice, and so on) to be the default when entering the Notes module.
Custom folders can now be applied to custom summary layouts. This allows you to display filtered notes lists on the Summary, Summary Popup, or QuickLook views.
The LMR now prompts you to specify your professional training when saving a note. This is a one-time event (per location). Once specified, the LMR uses this setting for any new note you create. If you've previously selected your professional training in the Preferences module, the LMR does not display this prompt.
The Notes module includes enhanced filtering functionality. The Modify Filter button and functionality has been replaced by Custom Folders. Custom Folders that you create can be applied to the Notes module to act as additional folders. See Working with Custom Folders for details.
Note: These custom folders can also be applied to the Summary module. See Creating a Custom Summary for details.
Additional filter links (folders) are now available. These include My Visit Notes, Results, My Documents, Consultations, and Patient Gateway.
You can now designate any folder (Enterprise, My, Practice, and so on) to be the default when entering the Notes module.
The Notes module now includes the following columns: Category, Type, and Professional Training. The Service field is no longer included. However, you can display the subset associated with any note by hovering over the Practice field.
Categorizations for Specialty and Professional Training are automatically updated (based on the logged in) whenever a note is saved. Previously, Specialty and Professional Training were assigned based on the logged on user who created the note, and were not automatically updated when a note is saved.
You can now restrict search results to labs associated with a specific site when ordering labs in EOV. Previously, when searching labs, the LMR used an enterprise-wide order catalog. Two new fields are added to the set-up options for your practice: "Restrict EOV lab search" and "Show more in restricted EOV lab search." Using these fields, you can determine if a site-specific catalog is used instead of the enterprise-wide version, and -- if so -- whether a link for "Expand search" displays when no matches are found.
Note: Contact your LMR support analyst for details on enabling this feature.
The CPT Add Map Tool has been enhanced to allow you to update multiple tests at once (in batch). Previously, you could only update a single test at a time. For details, click here.
The EOV batch frequency screen has been enhanced to include additional options. A customized list now displays for DFCI users. The list is also updated to move the most commonly used frequencies to the top.
Clicking the link for the module name now displays the QuickLook view for that module (where applicable). For example, signers may now double check the medication list for the patient they are writing a prescription for from the Sign screen. Previously, clicking the link for the module name displayed details of changes for that item.
A new column ()
has been added. Click the icon in this column to display details
of changes for the item.
When the Sign screen includes options for EOV and Medications, those options display to the right of other Sign key entry. Previously, options for EOV and Medications were displayed below the Sign key entry box.
The View all unsigned data button has been removed from the Sign screen and relocated to the Admin menu. (This only applies to users authorized for the associated super user group.)
The module displays the list of previously saved reports (since November 4, 2011) when clicking Health Form from the menu. Previously, the module displayed a new Health Form for your completion. To add new reports, an Add New button is added.
The most recently saved report is now available via Patient Gateway for patients to print under the Health Form menu. A message is sent to the patient's Patient Gateway account when a report is saved.
You are required to complete fields for the physical exam date and physical activity level. You are also required to enter your key to save Health Form reports. Changes are geared toward discouraging providers from handwriting comments on reports given to patients.
The Visit Summary report now includes a Save button to allow you to make the report available to the patient (through Patient Gateway) without printing. Previously, you needed to click Print to make the report available to Patient Gateway.
The Visit Summary report now includes the following text at the bottom of the report: "Keep an up-to-date list with you at all times. Also, be sure to show your up-to-date list to all of your health care providers."
The process for looking up and selecting a provider has been streamlined. You can now just type into a search box, and the application displays matching names as you type. Previously, you needed to click the first letter of the provider's last name and scroll through alphabetically sorted lists in order to select a provider.
The Patient Gateway application
has been enhanced to allow practices to enroll patients directly
from the LMR. The icon displays
in the PG column of the schedule for patients who currently
do not have a Patient Gateway account or who have an account
that has become inactive. Clicking this icon displays PG onsite
enrollment screens.
The most recently saved Pediatric Health Form report is now available via Patient Gateway for patients to print under the Health Form menu. A message is sent to the patient's Patient Gateway account when a report is saved.
Patient Gateway now allows eligible patients access to bill-related services offered by 3rd party vendor, Cathedral. A new menu item, View/Pay Bills, displays for patients with accounts in the Cathedral system. Additionally, Cathedral-generated electronic notifications are sent to patients or their designees (Patient Care Representatives) for new bills or billing related information.
Additional clinical information is now available to patients through Patient Gateway. The Reports option (under the Health Record menu) now provides access to PAP smears. Additionally, patients can now view all laboratory results, with the rare exception of a small number of blocked results.
The Staging/Treatment Plan module has enhanced for this release. Changes include the following:
The module has been entirely redesigned to improve maintainability. These changes should help expedite the rollout of the staging module to additional disease centers.
The look and feel of the module includes changes to improve usability. Comment boxes now include a formatting tool bar, allowing you to add bold, underlined, italicized, and indented text. Multi-select fields more clearly indicate selected entries. Additionally, the Dx Date is no longer the first field to be completed when entering staging information.
You can now print two copies of the Consent Form from the Treatment Plan edit screen. To do so. Use the drop-down list to the right of the Print Consent Form button to select "2 copies." Then, click Print Consent Form.
You can now make edits to a treatment plan after clicking Final, but before signing your updates. Previously, updates to a treatment plan were inaccessible once you clicked Final.
For pilot users only, you can now incorporate patient entered data regarding smoking status. This information has been collected from patients and submitted via an automated telephony application. Tobacco coordinators within the pilot sites are responsible for reviewing this information and determining whether to accept, reject, or edit this information. Information filed to the LMR is available wherever smoking status is displayed.
