Setting the Notes Header

Notes include the following types of headers:

• Practice Default Headers

  Can only be set by users designated as a practice manager, and only one header can be set per practice. The LMR applies this header at time the note is created by any user within that practice (does not apply to letters created from the Results Manager module). This header is saved as part of the text of the note (once the note is saved as Final).

  If authorized, use the Custom Headers module (from the Custom menu) to set the Practice Default Header. Click the Preferred check box (from the Practice option) for the header.

  While the note is Preliminary status, any user can choose to remove this header by clearing the Practice Header check box (displayed on the Note Edit screen). (This check box is not displayed for notes with a status of Final.)

• Print Default Headers

  Allows you to add a specified header to all notes that you print from the Notes, Document Management, and Results Manager modules.

  Use the Custom Headers module (from the Custom menu) to create custom headers and set your default. Your header can include special formatting and even graphics.

• System Default Header

  Includes the patient name and medical record number in the upper left corner, and the note status and date in the upper right corner.

If desired, you can specify a custom header to override the print default header or system default header using the following steps. This override header is then used for all notes you print for the remainder of this session. However, if your practice uses a practice default header, doing so will result in a note with two headers. To avoid printing problems, preview your note before printing. To remove a practice default header from a note, click here.

1.   If you haven't already, go to an LMR menu screen with access to the Header button. For details, click here.

2.   Click Header. The LMR displays all of your previously created headers as well as headers created by others in your practice that they have authorized for shared use. Select a custom header by clicking it.

3.   If desired, select an option for including patient information. If you do not select any option, printed notes will not include any identification information for the patient.

4.   Click Ok.
