Setting the Default Custom Header

There are two different types of default headers that can be applied to your notes. They are:

• Practice Default Headers

  Can only be set by users designated as a practice manager, and only one header can be set per practice. The LMR applies this header at time the note is created by any user within that practice (does not apply to letters created from the Results Manager module). This header is saved as part of the text of the note (once the note is saved as Final).

  While note is Preliminary status, any user can choose to remove this header by clearing the Practice Header check box (displayed on the Note Edit screen). (This check box is not displayed for notes with a status of Final.)

• Print Default Headers

  Can be set to add a specified header to all notes that you print from the Notes, Document Management, and Results Manager modules. Does not affect printing for any other user, and the header is not part of the contents of the note.

Any existing custom header can be used as a practice default header or print default header. See Creating a New Custom Header for details on creating a new header.

1.   If you haven't already, go to the Custom Headers module.

2.   Do one of the following:

• For practice managers only, to set the practice default header, click the Practice filter link to display headers available to you. Then, click the Preferred check box for the header.

• To set the print default header, click the Module Preferences filter link to display headers available to you. Then, click the Default option for the header.

Note:

• If a practice default header is set for your practice, setting a print default header or applying a heading at the time of printing will result in a note with two headers. To avoid header problems, preview your notes before printing.

• If you do not specify a default header, the LMR uses the system default header.
