When the Rx option is selected for any edited med, the Sign screen includes the following options:
Print Prescriptions to Default printer
Automatically prints a copy (using the "default" Rx Paper format setting from Custom Preferences) when you type your key and click Sign.
If you are printing prescriptions for Medicaid/MassHealth patients, the default printer must have tamper-proof paper or you must set the "Default printer uses" option to 8.5 x 11/with security text. This option is found in the Rx Paper format setting of the Custom Preferences module.
Print Prescriptions to Other printer
Allows you to preview your prescription as well as select a printer before printing when you click Sign. Prescriptions are printed using the "other" Rx Paper format setting from Custom Preferences.
If you are printing prescriptions for Medicaid/MassHealth patients, the printer you select must have tamper-proof paper or you must set the "Other printer uses" option to 8.5 x 11/with security text. This option is found in the Rx Paper format setting of the Custom Preferences module. If your practice uses a Star Micronics thermal printer, the "Other printer uses" option should be set to 4.25 x 5.5.
Send to Pharmacy/Print - After signing, displays a view with pharmacy options on the right, and a prescription preview panel on the left. Select one of the following options:
Click the Pharmacy check box and Send. The LMR sends prescriptions either by fax or e-Prescribing to the default pharmacy for the indicated pharmacy type (Retail or Mail Order). The method used (fax or e-Prescribing) depends on your setup and the medication.
Click the Printer check box. Then, click either Print to Default printer or Print to Other Printer, and Send.

Note: If the transmittal fails, you receive a notification indicating that the prescription was not successfully sent. You have the opportunity to print the prescription. See Rx Queue for details.
To
send the prescription to a different pharmacy
Unless otherwise specified, the LMR sends the prescription to the patient's default Retail or Mail Order pharmacy. To send the prescription to a different pharmacy for this patient:
1. Find the pharmacy to which you want to send this prescription from the list of retail or mail order pharmacies on the right. (If the pharmacy you want is not listed, add the pharmacy as described elsewhere on this page.)
2. Click
the arrow in the
Use column to update the Send Prescription pane with the new pharmacy
details.
Note:
The type of pharmacy (Retail or Mail Order) was selected on the Rx pad, and cannot be changed. You can only change the pharmacy to be used from that pharmacy type. (That is, if you selected a retail pharmacy, you can change to another retail pharmacy, but you cannot change to a mail order pharmacy.)
An alert displays in red text (at the top of the Send Prescription pane) if the pharmacy that you select has a history of refusing prescriptions faxed via the LMR. If this is the case, print and sign the prescription; and then fax it manually to the pharmacy or give it to the patient.
To
change the default pharmacy
In the Pharmacy Info section (in the right pane), select the default option for the pharmacy you want to specify as the default. Note that you can set up different defaults for both retail and mail order pharmacies.
The LMR uses the default pharmacy when electronically sending prescriptions. However, you can override the default pharmacy before sending.
1. Click New Pharmacy.
2. Select the search by option and, in the field to the left, enter the search criteria. (No criteria is needed if you are using the mail order pharmacies options.)
3. Do one of the following:
Click Search to find a pharmacy already in the database.
Click Favorites to view your list of favorite pharmacies.
Click Add New to enter the information for a new pharmacy. (The LMR displays the "Add New" option only after you have completed a pharmacy search.) Be sure to click Feedback (from the Resources menu) to send a message to the LMR support team to notify them of any missing pharmacies. Manually entered pharmacies are ineligible for ePrescribing, and are sent via fax only.
1. Select the delete check box for one or more pharmacies to delete.
2. Click Delete.
3. Click OK to delete the pharmacies from this patient's list of pharmacies.
