Sending chemotherapy orders is restricted to authorized providers. See Overview of Sending Chemo Sessions.
You must access the orders from where they originate. To change from MGH inpatient (white background) to MGH Ambulatory (yellow background), or vice versa, click the Switch to...(ALT+.) button in the upper right of the unit census list (UCM). You can switch locations before or after selecting the patient; the patient identification is maintained across sites.
If you haven't already:
Access the order session one of the following ways:
For pre-admit or NICO, click Chemo Options (ALT+M), then click Edit/View Inactive (ALT+V).
For ambulatory, click Edit/View Inactive (ALT+V).
To access the LMR Oncology Infusion Flowsheet , click Infusion Flowsheet (ALT+F).
From the chemo session list:
Click its line to select the session to send.
Select the earliest session to send if you want to send sessions for more than one date.
Chemo sessions #1 (chemo-related orders) and #2 (chemotherapy) from the same date are sent as a pair when either is selected to be sent.
Chemo orders that can be activated by a provider can be sent alone by selecting only the line for the chemo session #3.
If there is a chemo session #3 and you do not select it to send on its own, it will be sent with sessions #1 and #2 from the same date.
If the treatment includes multiple sets of sessions, spanning two (2) or more weeks, the provider has the option to send the selected sessions and any sessions that follow.
Click Send (ALT+S).
When prompted, click Yes (ALT+Y) to confirm that you are sending to the location described.
When prompted, click the button that indicates whether to send sessions besides the one you selected:
Click Send Only Selected Date (ALT+S) if you do not want to include sessions for dates after the date of the selected session.
Click Send Only Selected Date (ALT+S) if you selected a chemo session #3 that you want to send on its own, without session #1 or session #2 for the same date .
Click Send All (ALT+A) to include sessions for dates after, as well as any sessions for the date of the session you selected.
Click Cancel (ALT+C) to return to the list of sessions awaiting activation.
From the order review:
To view details of an order, click to select its line, then click Zoom (ALT+Z). Click Close (ALT+C) to return to the orders list.
To open Knowledge Link, click . Click Exit (ALT+E) to close KnowledgeLink. Click Pop Out (ALT+P) to open KnowledgeLink in a separate window from the CAS. Toggle between Order Entry and KnowledgeLink by clicking the icons in the taskbar. Click
to close the KnowledgeLink window.
To access the LMR Oncology Infusion Flowsheet , click Infusion Flowsheet (ALT+F).
To send the orders to another location:
Click Yes (ALT+Y) when you have reviewed all of the listed orders appropriately.
Click OK to Send (ALT+O) to send the orders.
For orders being sent from inpatient to ambulatory, when prompted, click to select the treatment location, then click OK (ALT+O).
When prompted, type your clinical key and click OK (ALT+O).
On returning to the special order sessions list, click Close (ALT+C).
If you opened the session list from inpatient Chemo Options, click Back to UCM Options (ALT+B).
