Record Allergies and Adverse Reactions—Allergies Unknown

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click Allergies/Adverse Reactions (ALT+L).

• To indicate that the patient has no known allergies:

4. If the record currently holds specific allergies in error, discontinue these to reactivate the Allergies Unknown button. Select each order and click D/C (ALT+D).

5. Click Allergies Unknown (ALT+U)

6. Once Allergies Unknown has been on the record unchanged for 24 hours, any MD, NP, PA, or CNM who writes new orders on this patient between 6 and 10 a.m. will be prompted to evaluate the original Allergies Unknown record. See Responding to the Allergies Unknown Warning.

7. Click Close (ALT+C).

• Other allergy options:

• Indicate that the patient has no known allergies (NKA)

• Select allergens and their associated reactions

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
