If you haven't already:
Click Post-OP Surgeon (ALT+P).
Options for handling current active orders:
If post-op orders have been activated for the selected patient within the last eight (8) hours, you are prompted to start a new set of orders or add to the existing orders. Click to select an option, then click OK (ALT+O).
Add more Post-Op orders for this case—Adds to the existing active orders
Patient has gone back to surgery; create a new Post-Op session—Writes orders for activation once the patient returns to the PACU or post-surgical care unit
For new post-op sessions for patients with active orders, the Active Orders Present options are displayed. Click to select an option, then click OK (ALT+O).
Include active orders—Display a list of the patient's current active orders to choose from
Do not include active orders—Leave all of the patient's
current active orders out of the post-op orders.
With this option, none of the current active orders will be continued
once the post-op orders are activated.
Review the Current Active Orders:
This list is displayed because you chose to include active orders in
the post-op session.
For each item on the list, click the corresponding checkbox to indicate whether to Continue or Inactivate the order when the post-op orders are activated.
Click OK (ALT+O).
Continued orders are displayed in the Surgery Post-OP Orders session
scratch pad.
Active orders for chemotherapy and total/peripheral parenteral nutrition (TPN/PPN) are continued automatically.
Complete the surgery post-op orders:
Click a yellow folder on the left to view the templates within, then click a blue template to open it.
Select or deselect orders from the template as needed, then click OK (ALT+O). See Ordering From a Template.
To write orders that are not on a template, click the Additional Orders menu in the upper left, then click the order type you need. See Writing Additional Orders.
Click Sign (ALT+S).
Type your clinical key when prompted.
Press ENTER or click OK (ALT+O).
