To ensure that you are working with the correct records, whenever possible, look up the patient by medical record number (MRN). The MRN is unique for each individual. See Looking Up a Patient By Number.
Click Select pt (ALT+S) in the upper left corner of the CAS to open the Partners Patient Lookup.
Type the patient's last name into the Search For field. If you know the first name, enter a comma after the last name and then type the first name. You can enter only part of the name to save time—for the last name, you must type at least the first three (3) letters.

If necessary, select MGH from the Site field.
Type M or F in the Sex field.
Press TAB to move through the fields quickly.
If you know the patient's date of birth or age, type it into the Birthdate/Age field to narrow the search. If you are estimating the patient's age, type a number for the +/- range in the Years field.
Click Search (ALT+S) to display patients matching the criteria you entered.
Click the patient name, then click OK (ALT+O) to select that patient.
