You can only delete orders that have not been signed.
See Discontinuing Orders to discontinue an active order.
See Discarding Special Orders to remove Pre-Admission, Transfer, or Post-Op orders from the record before activation.
See Discarding NICO Sessions to remove New Inpatient Chemotherapy Orders.
To delete an order before you sign the session:
Click the line in the scratch pad that contains the order. This can be either the Orders For This Session scratch pad or the specific scratch pad for that type of order.
Click Delete (ALT+D). The status changes to Deleted.
To keep a deleted order, select its line in the list, then click Restore (ALT+R).
If you had discontinued a medication order when responding to a Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) alert, then deleted the new order that replaced that medication, the original medication order is restored automatically.
Notes:
Deleted orders do not appear in the patient record.
Once you delete an order and close an orders list, either by writing another order or signing out, the deleted order no longer exists.
