If you haven't already:
Click Write (ALT+W).
Click General Care (ALT+G).
Click Health Habits (ALT+).
Complete the order:
At the question of whether the patient has used tobacco in the 30 days before being admitted, select from the drop-down list.
For MDs, NPs, PAs, and CNMs, selecting either option for a nicotine patch automatically writes the medication order for signature.
Type instructions or comments as needed.
Click to select Yes, No, or Unknown from the associated drop-down list to indicate whether smoking is allowed in the patient's home or car, to assess exposure to secondhand smoke.
As needed, to record the patient's status for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) of Adult Tobacco Use, click to check Smoking Status Detail, then click the appropriate option.
Smoking status recode is the numeric value assigned for the survey to each answer in the smoking status category. The recode is displayed in the Zoom view of the order.

Click OK (ALT+O).

Click More Info (ALT+I).
Click the CAS icon in the taskbar to toggle back to Orders.

Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
