Order General Care—Point of Care Testing

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click General Care (ALT+G).

4. Click Point of Care Testing (ALT+I).

• Complete the order:

1. Click a checkbox (or press ALT + the corresponding letter) to select one or more Point of Care tests.

2. Complete the order as follows for the selections:

• Blood glucose: Click an option to select a collection site. (Heelstick is the only option for neonates.) Type instructions as needed. Select the collection interval from the Frequency field. If Other, type the collection schedule and click OK (ALT+O).

• Urine (ALT+U): Click an option to select one or more tests. Type instructions and select the collection interval from the Frequency field. If Other, type the collection schedule and click OK (ALT+O).

• Gastric (ALT+G): Click to select guaiac, pH, or both. Type instructions and select the collection interval from the Frequency field. If Other, type the collection schedule and click OK (ALT+O).

• Stool guaiac (ALT+S): Click to select All stools, X1, or X3. Type instructions.

3. Select a Time (Now or Other ).

4. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
