Order Radiology—MRI/MRA

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click Radiology (ALT+Y).

4. Click MRI/MRA (ALT+M).

• Complete the form

1. Read the alert regarding the use of IV gadolinium for contrast with patients who have insufficient renal function.

• For details, click Gadolinium Guidelines (ALT+G). The gadolinium guidelines are also accessible from the MRI/MRA order form. Click Exit (Alt+E) to return to the alert.

• Click OK (ALT+O) to continue.

2. Click the checkbox (or press the corresponding letter) to select one or more exams. If not listed, click Other (Z).

3. Click to select an option for each parameter presented. Parameters are defined by the exam selected.

• Side: left, right, or bilateral

• Contrast: Contrast use at Discretion of Radiologist, With Contrast, Without Contrast

• MRI, MRA, or MRI/MRA

• Conscious sedation

4. For a Cardiovascular exam, click the link "Click here to page oncall Cardiac MRI fellow" to open PPD (Partners phone and paging), and then send the page.

5. Click OK (ALT+O).

• If you selected With IV Contrast or Without IV Contrast, click the option that gives your reason. If other, type a description , then click OK (ALT+O).

• If you requested conscious sedation, note the scheduling alert, then click OK (ALT+O).

6. For Abdomen (F) or Pelvis (G), select a primary area of focus, then click OK (ALT+O).

7. Complete indications as follows:

• Select indicators, signs and symptoms, and rule out/assess for conditions from checkbox lists if they are presented. If Other, type a description.

• Type descriptions of indicators, signs and symptoms, and rule out/assess for conditions in the text fields provided when checklists are not defined.

• Type clinical history as appropriate.

• Click OK (ALT+O).

8. Select a Time. For Other, when prompted, type the time the exam is needed.

9. For a female patient, click No, Yes, or Unknown to indicate if she is pregnant. If Yes, type the estimated gestational age (weeks) of the fetus.

10. Type instructions or comments as needed.

11. Click the associated checkbox to indicate the need for additional copies, a special fund, and/or a special cost center. Type a description for each selection.

12. Click OK (ALT+O).

13. Complete the Radiology MRI Exam parameters when prompted:

• Type the patient's weight in pounds (Lbs).

• Click Yes or No to indicate whether the patient has any of the devices or conditions listed.

• Click Yes or No to indicate the need for premedication. If yes, type the name and beeper number of the person to contact for administration.

14. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
