Order Nutrition and Food Services—Breast Milk and Infant Formula

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click Food and Nutrition (ALT+N).

4. Click Breastmilk/ Infant Formula (ALT+B).

• Complete the form

5. For a comparison of infant formulas posted by Nutrition and Food Services:

• Click More Info.

• Includes indications for use, osmolality, product form availability at MGH, and protein, fat and carbohydrate composition.

• Click Cancel to return to the order form.

6. Click to check one or more products. For all but breast milk without fortifier, type the Kcals per ounce required.

7. If you checked off Formula, select a product from the drop-down list.

• The most commonly ordered formulas are displayed in the initial drop-down list. Click Other formulas at the end of the list to display more options.

• If you select Other, the last option on the second list, type a description when prompted, then click OK (ALT+O).

8. Click to select one or more routes (methods) for feeding. If Per Other Tube, type a description.

9. Click the associated checkbox to order Advance feeding for preterm infants per guidelines. Type instructions for feeding in the field below.

10. Type instructions as needed.

11. Select a Start Time (Now or Other).

12. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
