If a patient has Face Sheet/Discharge Orders/Discharge Instructions orders, do not use OB/Nursery Discharge orders.
These limited discharge orders are intended for well newborns only. For adults and pediatric patients, see Writing Face Sheet/Discharge Orders/Discharge Instructions Orders.
If you haven't already:
Click Special Orders (ALT+O).
Click Discharge Order (Nursery) (ALT+D). If no such orders exist, the Discharge Order form opens.
If discharge orders exist, see Editing or Discontinuing Nursery Discharge Orders.
Medication Reconciliation (optional):
If the pre-admission medications list (PAML) is signed as complete, the statement indicating review and reconciliation of discharge medications with the PAML is checked.
To open the PAML builder, click Access the PAML (ALT+A). See Completing the PAML
If you click to check Discharge meds reviewed/reconciled with the PAML meds when the PAML is not signed as PAML Creation: Complete, you will be notified. Click OK (ALT+O) to open the PAML builder. (See Signing the PAML Creation: Complete, with additional information on updating the list.)
Exiting the PAML automatically returns to the Discharge form. The verification remains checked only if the PAML is signed as PAML Creation: Complete. If you cannot sign the PAML as complete, you cannot check off the statement.
Complete the discharge order:
The default is today—change the date if needed.
Type instructions as needed.
Click OK (ALT+O).
Type your signing key when prompted.
Click OK.
To return to the patient list, click Back to UCM Options (ALT+B).
