Order Diagnostic Studies—ECG/EKG

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click Diagnostic Studies (ALT+I).

4. Click ECG/EKG (ALT+K).

• Complete the form

5. Click to select Electrocardiogram or Electrocardiogram (Pre-Op).

6. When prompted, complete the clinical history:

• Select indicators from the checkbox lists.

• Click the appropriate tab to display options for Cardiac symptoms (ALT+S), Abnormal findings (ALT+A), Cardiac disease (ALT+D), and Other reasons (ALT+R).

• Click OK (ALT+O).

Click Clinical History (ALT+H) to change this information.

7. For pre-op orders, type the procedure in the Type of Surgery field.

8. Select a diagnosis and code from the Diagnosis drop-down list.

9. Click Yes, No, or Unknown to indicate whether the patient is on Digitalis, Anti-Arrhythmic drugs, or both.

10. Select a Time (Routine, Stat, Today, In AM, or Other ).

11. Type instructions as needed.

12. Click OK (ALT+O).

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
