Paper copies of discharge forms are not official—and are marked as such—until signed as final. The print function for each selected form will generate the correct number of copies for filing and distribution.
When available for the selected patient's care unit, the Patient Discharge Medication List (PDML) is generated automatically. See Overview of the PDML.

If you haven't already:
Select the patient and click Face Sheet Discharge (ALT+F) or Discharge (ALT+G).
Click the Print folder near the bottom of the list.
To select forms for printing:
Click the checkbox to select one or more forms to print.
To select all forms, click Select All.
Click a checkbox again to deselect it.
Drag the scroll bar on the right or click its up and down arrows to view other available forms.
Start the printing:
Determine how many copies of each form is needed.
Click the appropriate Print button to generate the number of copies you need.
If prompted, select the patient disposition:
Click an option to indicate whether the patient is going home with services, home without services, or to another facility.
Click OK.
Some forms cannot be printed unless the discharge orders are signed as preliminary. If prompted to sign:
Type your signing key.
Click OK.
Some forms cannot be printed unless the discharge orders are signed as final, with the patient "ready to go." If prompted:
For the Face Sheet, click OK when prompted. Save the discharge orders, clicking the Yes (finalize, patient is ready) option, and checking off Sign the Face Sheet Discharge order.
For the Pt. Care Referral, click OK when prompted. Save the discharge orders, clicking the Yes (finalize, patient is ready) option, and checking off Sign the Face Sheet Discharge order and Complete Referral Form.
For the nursing note, click OK when prompted. Save the discharge orders, clicking the Yes (finalize, patient is ready) option, and checking off Sign the Discharge Instructions.
For nursing and other health professions forms, Click Continue Print if you have other forms to print, or Cancel Print if you want to sign or quit. To be able to print the forms, save the discharge orders, clicking the Yes (finalize, patient is ready) option, and checking off Sign the Discharge Instructions.
Click OK to acknowledge the message about the number of forms (one per copy) that are queued to print.
Close the discharge orders: click Exit.
