Select a Patient
- To open Patient Lookup, hold the mouse pointer over the Select
menu, and then click the Patient option.
- To find and select a patient:
- Enter criteria for the search. For the most accurate results, use
the patient's medical record number (MRN) whenever possible.
- Look up by number: In the Patient Name/MRN/SSN field, type the
patient's MRN or social security number (SSN). Format the SSN as nnn-nn-nnnn, including dashes.
- Look up by name: In the Patient Name/MRN/SSN field, type at least
the first three (3) letters of the patient's last name. If typing
both last and first name (which yields fewer results), separate the
names with a comma. Hyphens (-), apostrophes (') and periods (.) are
accepted. See also: Patient
lookup involving special characters.
- Click Search or
press ENTER.
- The system displays any matching patient records.
- To view a long list of results, scroll down to display the remainder
of the page.
- To display the next page of results, click the More
link in the upper or lower right corner of the grid. (The link does
not appear if there is only a single page of results.)
- To view patient demographics, click the Detail
link in the last column. See Patient Demographics
for more information.
- To start over, click the Initiate
New Search link.
- To find the patient who was last looked up on the device you're
using, click the Last Patient
button.
- To repeat a search using the most recently entered parameters,
click the Restore button.
(This option is available only if a patient was not selected from
the lookup results.)
- To select a patient and open the appointments viewer:
- Click the link for the patient's
name.
