Manage your notifications

For each site where you're authorized, you can set up, change, or remove notifications for specific 4Next referral events.

  • For referral recipients, events include message received, or the case owner or co-owner changing the referral status to sent, accept offer, retracted, or finalized.
  • For referral senders, events include message sent, the recipient changing the referral status to received, accept pending, offered, denied, or (offer) canceled.
  • If you haven't already:
  1. Click the menu made up of your initials lastname, firstname menu drop arrow.
  1. Click the Profile option. By default, your profile opens to General information. For Mass General Brigham staff, this is pulled from your profile in the Mass General Brigham employee directory. All other users, Contact Us if you need to change any of these entries.
  1. Click Notifications in the index on the left.

  1. Click to select a provider from the drop-down list. (Sites with initial capital letters send referrals; sites in all caps receive referrals.)
  2. For the type of notification you want—email, pager (referral senders only), or text (referral recipients only)—click add. The Add Subscription popup displays.
  3. For email, if you want to use an address other than the one in your Profile contact information, click to turn the switch off switch off, and then type the email address to use for notifications.
  4. Click save to confirm you want notifications sent as described.
  5. If you want notifications by both available options, repeat the process above for the other.
  6. By default, all the referral events are off switch off. Click the switch for an event to turn on notifications switch on. If both methods are set up, notifications are sent by both for all of the events that are on.

    • Received = provider has acknowledged receipt of the referral
    • Accept Pending = provider is clinically accepting the patient, pending additional information and/or documentation
    • Offered = provider will take the patient
    • Canceled = provider has canceled an offer to take the patient
    • Denied = provider cannot take the patient
    • Message Sent = new informational message has been sent to you (does not include messages that accompany any of the status changes above)

    • Sent = new referral has been sent to you, or retracted referral has been resent to you
    • Accept Offer = your offer has been accepted
    • Retracted = referral has been removed by the sender
    • Finalized = accepted offer has been finalized by the sender
    • Message sent = new informational message has been sent to you (does not include messages that accompany any of the status changes above)

Changing notifications

  • To stop receiving notifications for a specific referral event, click its switch to turn it off switch off.
  • To start receiving notifications for a specific referral event, click its switch to turn it on switch on
  • To use an email address other than the one in your Profile contact information:
  1. Click edit pencil in the Email Notification Settings section.
  2. Click to turn the switch off switch off, and then type the email address to use for notifications.
  3. Click save.
  • To use the email address in your Profile contact information:
  1. Click edit pencil in the Email Notification Settings section.
  2. Click to turn the switch on switch on.
  3. Click save.
  • To stop receiving notifications by a particular method—email, pager (referral senders only), or text (referral recipients only)—click its Remove notification method.
