Read and respond to messages
- Click the patient name to select a case.
- If you've moved off of the Referral Management view, click manage.
Reading messages
By default, the
Communications section displays the most recent message from the referral sender. The item includes the name of
the person who wrote it and a time stamp.
- To display all entries, click
on the right of the section heading.
Communications includes the thread of messages, most recent first, sent on the right and
receivedon the left. The number to the right of the section
heading # indicates how many unread messages from the sender there are.
- To receive email and/or text notifications when a message arrives, see Setting up notifications.
- To mark a communication from the referral sender as read:
- Click the section heading
to display the
Communications thread.
- Click
to the right of the message time stamp to mark the message as
read.
- Click OK to close the confirmation message.
Responding to a message
- Click
or the section heading
on
the right of the heading for the type of note you want.
- For
, the New Message popup displays.
- For the section heading
, the message thread displays. The new message options are at the bottom, scroll down if needed.
- Type the note.

To flag the message as requiring immediate action, click
to turn the Priority switch on:
