You may need to update the EOV Header in order to ensure that proper information is collected for reporting and billing purposes. For example, the Rendering, Billing, and Order Provider fields automatically default based on the schedule, but can be updated. This may be necessary if the person rendering care cannot bill for services (such as an RN or medical student). Additionally, free text fields allow you to specify data (names, NPI numbers, etc) that are not included in drop-down lists. Information defaulted from the EMPI can also be udpated, as necessary.
1. If you haven't already, select the patient and go to the EOV encounter view.
2. Click the link for the date of the encounter to display the Encounter Header screen. You can only edit the header of encounters that were created by or for you.
3. Update fields, as appropriate. Be sure the NPI (National Provider Index) field is included for every provider.
4. Click Ok (ALT+O) to save your changes and exit, or Document Encounter to save your changes to the header and immediately add information to the encounter. See Adding an Encounter for details.
