The LMR calculates "almost due" items in either of two ways, depending on if the due date was set by the LMR (as a decision-support reminder) or set by a provider:
For due dates set by the LMR, an internal set of rules applies. These rules are specific to the item. That is, an influenza vaccine displays as almost due on a different time table than a colonoscopy.
For due dates set by providers, the LMR calculates "almost due" based on a 15% + 1 day window. If the number of days remaining until the item is due is within 15% of the total days from the time the due date was set + 1 day, the item is considered almost due. (For an HM item set at 100 days, the item turns yellow 16 days before the actual due date.)
