Using the Top: Filter/Sort Index in the Summary View
Top: Filter/Sort is a preference setting available for the Summary page index. This setting is particularly useful when you want to look at all recent activity for a patient or find one specific item. It includes features not available with the Top and Left index options, such as the ability to sort and filter items based on data such as site, date, type of data, item description or note subject, completion status, and author.
- To display the Top: Filter/Sort on the summary page, see Setting Preferences.
- The index pane displays up to 75 items at a time, most recent first. Depending on the number of items and the height for the index display, you may have to scroll the index to see more items. To increase the information display:
- To display the full text in a column, hold the mouse pointer over the entry.
- To change the size of the panes for the index list and the note display, hold the mouse pointer over the line that divides the two until it turns to a
. Click and drag the line up or down to change the height of the panes.
- If more than 75 items meet the search criteria, items are grouped into index pages.To move from page to page, clicking the Page # link in the lower left (previous page) or lower right (next page) corner of the index pane. The first page of items has the word ”Start” in the lower left corner. The final page of items has the word ”End” in the lower right corner. (You may need to scroll to the bottom of the index pane to see the page links.)
- To quickly return to the first page of a multi-page index, click Submit.
- To view details of a report, note, or lab specimen:
- To display the data in the detail pane below the index, scroll to the index item, and click it.
- To review data in order, click an item in the index, and then press the up/down arrow keys to display the detail for each item.
- Sort and filter selections are lost when you go to another page. Limit the number of items included in the index by specifying site, datatype, and time frame options at the top of the Summary page.
- To limit the index list in the current display to one or more of the entries in a column:
- By default, the viewer is set to display All. To remove items based on specific parameters, click the down arrow beneath the column name
.
- To filter by a single option, click to select its row in the drop-down list. Click to select the date or text you want to limit the index to.
- To sort index items in the current display:
- To sort the list in descending order (alphabetically, numerically, or most recent first), click a column heading.
- To reverse the sort order, click the column heading again.
- The relative order of sorted items is not set. Be sure to check the dates of sorted items when reviewing.
- The list item includes a History link when previous versions are available.
- To display when the current version was last edited, hold the mouse pointer over the link.
- Click the link to open the Document History, a new Notes Viewer index of any previous versions of the selected document. See Using the Popup Notes Viewer.
- To switch to the original view, click the PHS Viewer Activity on the right. Click the PHS Viewer Popup Activity to switch again.
- To close the viewer, click
in the upper right of the PHS Viewer Popup.
