If you haven't already:
Right-click the patient's bed card or name, then select Order Entry (O) from the popup menu.
The popup menu is available from ED Tracking as well as the Current ED Patients and Recent Discharges patient lists. Right-click the patient's bed card or name to select it.
From View Orders, click Write (ALT+W). See Viewing orders.
Click Cancel if needed to close the default complaint-based template.
Click the Other Orders Tab.
Open the form and submit the order:
Click Radiology (ALT+Y).
Click an exam button to display individual exams of that type.
Click to select an exam from the list.
Exams requiring additional information are marked with a 4. Click to indicate the appropriate body part and side or sides as needed.
The Indications form opens automatically. Signs and Symptoms and Relevant History are required to complete the order. Entry options vary depending on the exam:
Click a checkbox to check or uncheck it.
For options with no checkbox, type a description ("Specify") to select an complete the option.
Type in text entry fields; press TAB to move from field to field quickly.
Options with multiple choices are marked with a 4. Click the arrow to display the entire field, then click to select an option. The first choice is blank if you do not want to select this type of option.
Precautions that have been recorded in Order Entry display automatically as Additional Clinical History. You can add to this entry, or include additional information when you submit the order (see below).
Click Submit. (This button is located both above and below the Indications sections. You may have to click the scroll bar to the right to access the button.)
Review the information on the Submit Order form:
Make additional entries as needed:
To provide a phone or pager number for reporting, click Stat Report. Click an option, then type the numbers.
To indicate an allergy to IV Contrast, click Yes on the IV Contrast drop-down list.
For female patients only, update the Pregnancy status by clicking an option on the corresponding drop-down list.
Type Pre-Auth or Grant numbers as available.
To include additional clinical information or scheduling comments., click Additional Order Information, then type a description.
To make changes to the Indications form, click Re-enter Indication. When prompted, click OK to reset the form to blank, or Cancel to continue without changes. Complete as described above, then click Submit.
To return to the exam selection options, click Reset Order. When prompted, click OK to erase the current order, or Cancel to continue without changes. Complete your radiology orders as described above.
To send the completed order to Radiology:
Click Save and Order if you want to write another Radiology order.
Click Save and Exit to return to the Order Entry system.
Once you send the order to Radiology, you cannot pull it back up in Order Entry for editing. To change a Radiology order, select it from the orders list, then click Delete (ALT+D). Write a new order to make the change.
If you Exit the order session without signing, the order is not saved to Percipio.
