Order General Care

• If you haven't already:

1. Select the patient.

2. Click Write (ALT+W).

3. Click General Care (ALT+G).

4. Click Other General Care (ALT+H).

General care refers to treatment delivered on the unit by the unit staff. Other general care can also be used to indicate the need for patient education or instruction, as well as pathways and related information such as admit unit, specialist, PCP, diagnosis, and condition.

• Complete the form

5. Type any miscellaneous general care orders, that is, orders that can't be entered through specific General Care Order Entry forms.

6. Click OK (ALT+O).

The Other General Care option is not intended to replace available order forms. This should not be used to order blood products or transfusion restrictions, medications, nutrition consults, IV fluids, chemotherapy, or respiratory care.

• Write additional orders as needed, then sign the session.
