By default, the PAML Viewer displays the most recent pre-admission medications list. A list may be open (current), closed (at discharge, or manually if required), or errored (removed from the record as incorrect). Authorization is required to view errored PAMLs.
Information in the viewer is not editable. Functions in the PAML Builder are tailored to the institution. For instructions, see:
To display a different list, select from the drop-down options beneath the patient identification.
To generate a paper copy of the list as displayed, click Print.
To copy the list for pasting to another electronic document, click Copy.
To display records for a different patient, click Return to Patient Lookup, then search for the new patient.
To display the history of each record in the PAML (additions, updates, and deletions, with timestamp and user signature), as well as the history of the medication reconciliation status (See below for description):
Click the Last Signed By link in the upper right.
Click Print (ALT+P) to generate a paper copy of the PAML history.
Click OK (ALT+O) to return to the PAML Viewer.
To display which steps of the reconciliation have been signed off, click Reconciliation Status. Click the button again to hide the information. Steps include:
PAML Creation: Complete—admitting clinician, in PAML Builder
Confirmed (review with patient/family/surrogate, usually by nursing)—completed in PAML builder
Reconciled with admission or transfer orders (pharmacy)—completed in Order Entry/pharmacy system
Reconciled with discharge orders (MD, NP, CNM, or PA)—completed in Order Entry
Verified with discharge orders (nursing)—completed in Order Entry
To close the viewer, click Exit.
