If you cancel from the Chemotherapy ordering session, you must begin the entire session over. This is required for the following changes:
Select a different diagnosis, regimen, protocol (when available), or indication (when needed)
Enter a different weight or height (note that these can be updated by the RN at activation, but that changes may trigger the requirement for approval; see Overview of Chemotherapy Approval at Approval, post-activation dose change.
Check the Exception Order option to allow ordering of a chemo medication (requires authorization at MGH or approval at DFCI); see Ordering Chemotherapy at Writing an Exception Order
Uncheck the Exception Order option when exception is not needed; note that the authorization/approval signature is required regardless of whether a chemo med is added to the order
The following changes, when permitted by the parameters of the treatment, can be made without canceling the chemo order session:
Select or deselect orders for antiemetics, hydration, and hypersensitivity (see Ordering Chemotherapy at Non-Chemo Orders)
Add non-chemo orders to the antiemetic, hydration, and hypersensitivity order sets
Edit non-chemo orders in the antiemetic, hydration, and hypersensitivity order sets
Select chemo orders (see Ordering Chemotherapy at Chemo Orders)
Edit orders in the chemo set (see Ordering Chemotherapy at Edit a chemo order)
To confirm that you do want to cancel the orders, click Yes.
To return to the chemo player and continue with the orders, click No.
For a complete procedure, see Ordering Chemotherapy.
