April 2, 2013—Changes to Diagnostic Studies: EEG and Evoked Potential
Diagnostic Studies options for Electroencephalograms (EEG) and Evoked Potential have been updated to reflect current clinical practice.
Key features:
EEG studies are now defined as either continuous (24 - 48 hours) or routine (less than 1 hour)
The clinical indication is the primary determinant for EEG studies
The type of EEG may be selected by default, based on the indication; the ordering provider can always change the selection
Contact information is provided once the EEG order is written
Evoked Potential study options now include visual EP, brainstem auditory EP, median somatosensory EP, posterior tibial somatosensory EP, or a full panel
The option for Epilepsy screening, which is not performed for inpatients, ED patients, or ambulatory chemo patients, is no long available
