Pre-admission orders are written in a distinct session that allows you to add new orders as well as view and edit existing ones. Pre-admission orders are linked to the patient's admission status:
Pre-admission orders must be activated when needed. When the patient is listed in the UCM, "Pre-Admit" appears in the Order Status column. When these orders are activated, the status message changes to "Pending."
Pre-admission orders over 30 days old must be reviewed through a renewal process, then signed. See Renewing Non-Chemo Pre-Admission Orders.
Pre-admission orders over 60 days old are automatically discarded from the system.
Chemotherapy orders written as pre-admission expire on the expected date of admission if not activated by then. The expected date of admission can be changed. See the Overview of Chemotherapy Pre-admission Orders for more information.
A patient record can have only one set of pre-admission orders for a particular date. There is no limit to the number of sessions per patient -- however, the admission date for each session must be different.
Pre-admission orders can be discarded before activation, but once activated must be discontinued the same as any other active orders.
