Templates are similar to the order entry forms you see in routine orders. Templates have all of these features:
Formatting—Orders are set into framed sections and separated into pages.
Additional information—Labels are used to provide information.
Edits and additions—Templates offer selections such as checkboxes, options, and drop-down lists.
Building templates is a specialized function. Templates must be requested and designed by a department or service, approved by the POE Committee, and built by MGH Order Entry support staff.
