You are automatically prompted to record the patient's weight if his or her age is less than 19 years, and there is no weight on file. This weight record is not used in calculations for orders for chemotherapy regimens and protocols. Chemo weight and height entry and verification are handled separately when writing and activating chemo and chemo-related orders.
To defer this entry, click Not available, ask later (ALT+N).
Weight (estimated or actual) is required in the ED, and cannot be deferred.
To enter an actual or estimated weight:
Type a value in either the kg (kilograms), lb (pounds), or, for infants under three (3) months old, g (grams) field. Alternate units are calculated automatically.
Click Actual weight (ALT+U) or Estimated weight (ALT+E) as applicable.
If only an estimated weight is recorded, clinicians starting a new order session will be prompted to record the actual weight.
If prompted to verify the weight (because it is outside of the 5th to 95th percentile for the child's age):
To change the entry, click Incorrect repeat the process above.
To verify the entry, click Correct (ALT+C).
Click Correct (ALT+C) at the Validation prompt. (To change the entry, click Incorrect and repeat the process above.)
Type your signing key, then click OK(ALT+O).
