January 11, 2016—Dosing units for some medications changing to weight-based
In anticipation of the April adoption of Partners eCare at MGH, the dosing units for several titratable medications will be changed to Epic dosing units. Please contact your department leader with any questions.
Key features:
The medications affected are used in the ICUs, perioperative and procedurals areas, and the ED, and include all of the following:
Dopamine
Dobutamine
Esmolol
Labetalol
Nitroprusside
Pentobarbitol
Propofol
Clinicians caring for patients in these areas have bedside conversion charts to aid with this transition.
IV pump libraries are being updated.
Dopamine, found on all code carts, is included in this change. Guidance documents on MGH and off site code carts have been updated
